Lil Formers: The Next Generation
Hey gang, welcome to the new site! After 100 weekly strips, I thought it’d be a good time to give the strip an overhaul. I still haven’t gotten things exactly as I want, but it’s getting there.
Using Comicpress(a great wordpress theme designed especially for webcomics), I’ve spiffed things up with some cool new features, such as:
- RSS feed (you guys have been asking for this!)
- Comments for each comic and blog post (now you can easily tell me what you think!)
- Search Function (working again!)
I’ll also be updating soon with new standees and new wallpapers which everyone’s been asking for. I’m also thinking about a fan section to show some of the great fan art and gifts I get!
Now that I’ve wowed you all with the fancy new diggs, the surprise news! Hopefully it’s not bad news heh… If you haven’t figured it out from strip #100, Lil Formers will no longer be ONLY Transformers-centric. To keep things fresh I’m expanding the scope to cover any type of geeky toy, cartoons, comic, sci-fi, anime, video game, etc property. After 100 TF strips, I’ve had my fill of the robots in disguise for a bit. Doesn’t mean I will never do TF strips, but it will no longer be the sole driving force behind Lil Formers. For simplicity sake though, the strip will continue to be called ‘Lil Formers’ until the end of time. Hope everyone enjoys and supports the new direction, but if you NEED your TF fix, I’m still doing a page of TF gags in every issue of the Official Transformers Club Magazine.

Oh wow I love the new look. Even from a pure design point of view it’s great.
Geek jokes are the best kind especially when you can tell them to non geeks just to watch their faces screw up in confusion.

Looking awesome, mate. Good to see some change about. Can’t wait to see the new wallpapers, and the fan section sounds like a brilliant idea. You were saying almost a year ago about adding a new blog ‘next week or so’. Hahahah.

Well, I’ll honestly miss the TF centered weekly comic, but I can understand how you’d get burned out on them. Glad to see the site overhaul… hopefully it’ll now support all the HUGE traffic that you’re sure to get!

What-a-change, Matt! I like the reboot of Lil Formers. There have been many cameos and guest stars, but now I think that the open door will let us enjoy this site so much.
Once I asked you for permission to make a custom t-shirt, but I never did it. Please, consider to include some t-shirt designs now.

I’ve been hooked on this comic since I first heard of the site. As for the introduction of the other cartoon characters and such, I think it’s a great idea. And with them being, “lil forms” of them it works very well. I look forward to seeing the new comics.

I’m going to miss the weekly adventures of my robots in disguise but as an artist, I understand getting burned out. Though I’m a little disappointed, I’m still very happy about the format change. Focusing on all things geeky along with Transformers is a great idea! I’m really looking forward to it!

Matt, love the site! Love the idea of bringin’ in more characters. I know the new comics will be just as good as it was before. Keep up the great work. I have read them all, and have laughed till i’ve caught headaches. You are the man!

I’m looking forward to it. Still, it isn’t like Lil’Formers wasn’t leaning this direction. It is just going from a Geek comment with an obligatory TF connection per comic to a full geek comic.

As always the art is great and the new layout looks wonderful. I can’t say I’m too pleased with the change away from Transformers though, I loved ‘Lil Formers BECAUSE it was a TF comic…I can read nerdy/gamer comics anywhere but ‘Lil Formers was one of a kind. U___U
You could always get ideas from fans if your lacking inspiration, the fandom is large, diverse, and full of great ideas and helpful people. Sorry to sound melancholy, I wish you luck in your new venture.

actually… I agree with Miko. that’s the reason I looked this website up too. I love TFs and that’s what made me a major fan. please keep the transformers theme. I’m not teling you that’s all you hav eto do but please keep it a little TF centric.
If you wanted to you could do something on I, Robot… That was a good robot movie. but I like transformers better.
PLEASE PLEASE PLAESE don’t give up on Transformers!

I’m sad to hear that you’re moving away from the TFcentered theme, as it was my weekly fix (I would check the earliest in the morning as I could, before breakfast). It is a shame that Lilformers is changing, and I actually agree with others, you should change the name somehow… I like the idea posted above actually, so you would only change the top. I’ve been your fan for quite awhile now, and I hope you continue to produce good comics.
Well, good luck on your ventures. I’m done following your comics for now (I’m strictly a TF fan), but I do wish you profit and continued successes in your future. Your skill is one of a kind.

Oh no, my roommate Kat just told me - I see you posted above girlie. We in our campus apartment are in love with your TF comics! You have four college girls here rooting for you and some more TF comics if you can produce them. We understand you could easily get tired of doing them all the time tho. We’ll have a celebratory good-bye to you tho. Thanks a ton too for the freebie avatars - they’re spreading around our campus like a bad flu
