So which movie will be the worst of 2009? It’s very tough to tell… luckily ‘The Spirit’ came out before the end of 2008, so we don’t have to worry about competition there! Lucky!

Not bad. I too am not looking forward to any of these movies. The trailers just make me weep. Don’t forget that we still Castlevania the movie to look forward to as well. ^^;
I do have one thing I want to nitpik at, and that’s M. Bison’s name on the script of Street Fighter. The guy in red is NOT M. Bison. It’s Vega. M. Bison is the boxer. Originally when Street Fighter came out, they created M. Bison (ie Mike Bison) to be a pun on Mike Tyson. Because Capcom was afraid of getting sued (beaten up, and their ears bitten off), they changed the names M. Bison, Vega, and Balrog around. If you already knew that, and just did this to keep everyone from getting confused, that’s cool, but it still needed to be said.

I’m highly tempted to watch the Dragon Ball Z movie, if only to fall out of my chair laughing at the corniness of it all.
Who knows? Maybe with all the production time going into it (weren’t the rumors of a DBZ movie started back in ‘05?) the movie won’t suck.

That’s not a nitpick, but just showing-off your knowledge of SF history. The background is all correct, but that doesn’t mean that’s not M. Bison. Because Capcom did move those names around, the red guy M. Bison in America, and always has been in all the official releases of the game. Your “correction” would only be correct if this were Japan.

Transformers 2 isn’t looking any better than the first one.
I liked the Spirit. I’m stealing this but “it’s Adam West’s Batman in Sin City” how can you not love it for it’s corniness?

Hear, hear! As long as you didn’t expect a really good gritty noir film, “The Spirit” is easily enjoyed. I think the same applies for these films. As long as we go into the theatre knowing they’ll probably be awful, we can enjoy them as they’ll have met our expectations.

Without plot, without charisma, whitout Transformers.
Only thing I saw, are Patriotism are lot, ande 30 minutes of mechas (not Transformers).

ehehe funny. Anyway this coudl explain a lot of recent movies about superheroes. Hell the only reason we don’t suspect Doctor Doom wasn’t behind Fantastic Four Movie is because the actor playing his role made him look silly.
On side note: The spirit wasn’t so bad, considering that the comic itself wasn’t easy to adapt to movie(some conversions are hard and near to be impossible to reamain faithful, as things that work on videogames, toon and comics, do not look so cool on real live movie), not a masterpiece, but entertaining and with some good looking babes

Maybe I just haven’t seen them, but all I’ve seen are production stills of these movies. How can we be sure they are going to suck? Did ANYONE think Heath Ledger was going to be that good as Joker?

Megatron’s not there since we’re all praying that TF2 doesn’t suck.
…plus each of the previous movies for these 3 series had their memorable moments!:
-The shocking revelation that Nash/Charlie is Blanka?
-The last minute script change not to kill Duke off? (”He woke from his coma!”)
-And of course, that a nuclear laser fired from your hands isn’t enought to kill the most powerful villian in the dimension, but a little ball made from snippets of energy from grass, plants and anything organic would be?
And there’s nothing wrong with a Canadian playing Chun-Li, since she IS half Chinese. And smoking hot to boot.

Nothing wrong with having a half chinese-canadian as chun li, can’t be worse than having a belgian Guile and an aussie Cammie like in that first film that I’ve headbutted out of my memory. Methinks Street Fighter and Dragonball z will be largely ignored no matter how good or bad they are, but GI Joe will just be arse-clenchingly terrible but also popular and money spinning for an even worse sequel.
Oh, and is it just me or does The Fallen look like the guy with big horns off of Legend?

Kristophe - If you thought the Transformers movie was absolutely brilliant, get me whatever drug you’re smoking/drinking/inhaling/injecting/shoving up your hooha, because to me, it was okay, but pissed all over the Transformer memories I had.

Yes, I can say that something is going to suck without experiencing it. I have not listened to any Hanna Montana album, but I can tell just by the ads/covers/posters etc. that IN MY OPINION that they are going to suck.
The live action Cowboy Bebop movie starring Keanu Reeves as Spike is gonna be horrible. If a movie has Michael Bay’s name attached to it, it’s going to have bad camera work, poor acting, the script will have no depth, and pretty much be a one-time watch movie. In my opinion. For me, Dragonball is going to be unwatchable because I hate Dragonball, plain and simple. Street Fighter is going to be bad, because for my tastes, video games do not translate into films (and vice-versa) well. GI Joe might be good. Maybe.

What was ok about the 1st movie?
1. Incoherent plot? scenes in the movie lead nowhere or had no real purpose
2. Laughably bad dialogue? “My bad” Shia “NoNoNoNoNo” Whats up lil bitches” touch my bush I’ll kick your @$$” ect. ect.
3.Day turns to night in an instant?
4.Epic numbers of continuity errors?
5.Dramatic scenes that fly straight out of left field? (”I’m so glad I got in the car with you.”)
6.Formerly respectable older star sinks to a new low? John Turturro Jon Voight
7.Incredible overacting that is obviously encouraged by the director?
8.Bumblebee who cannot speak for no apparent reason?
9.Rampant stereotyping (not just the racial ones but stuff like cops acting dumb, doing a lot of shouting, and eating doughnuts, and military officials being all secretive one minute and spilling said secrets the next)?
10.Characters with a lot of face time who end up playing no important role in the “story?”
11.The action in some shots is hopelessly muddled? Shaky Cam quick cut editing.
12.A Jazz’s hilarious death scene is matched only by his hilarious eulogy?
13. Transformers had little scene time due to over elaborated designs which made to expensive?
14. Blatant product placement? Takes away from the movie exp.
15. Transformers are secondary characters with little to no dialogue?
16. Hard to tell the Transformers apart.
17. For a action blockbuster there is not much action 5 min of action in the beginning 10 min of action in the middle and 20 min of action at the end. In a 2 hr and 30 min movie. All of which jumps around from robots to humans every 3 seconds……

I think one of the fatal flaws with the Dragonball movie is that people think its the DBZ movie. There are distinct differences between the series and a lot of people just aren’t that familiar with the original series.
GI Joe, I’ll give a shot too.

Well, I not that fond of any of this series, which gives me the edge. As an “average viewer” I can see this movies whitout the need of comparing it to their original series or whatnot. It was the same with “TRANSFORMERS” for me, (It was actually the movie that got mt into this whole shenanigain). My dad is a die hard Dragonball fan, and he said the mopvie looked passable. I’ve only seen one trailer for SF and for G.I joe, I saw the recent commercial. THEIR NOT KEEPING THE BLACK SUITS! WOOHOO! So yeah, I’m gonna see this movies probably, they look ok to me

Me and some friends made a parody of evolution. no girls, most people where fused, and at that the only characters that did anything were goku, yoshi, and piccolo. it will eventually be on youtube, under the name angelicKuro.

i should mention that DBZ movie is actually old scholl DB and not DBZ like most failure young people thought. it was pretty accurate for what it should have been except goku was a teen not 10, had no tail (i cried) and that he went to a school.
ooh and of course NO FLYING NIMBUS!!! extendo staff was in it though so that was ok
