Lil Formers #135: Primes
To go with the Megatron strip from a few weeks back. Let’s see who’s old enough to get the Rodimus one heh…
Also in related news, I’m going to Botcon this year! Post or e-mail me and let me know what you’d like to me to be selling there! ![]()

February 16th, 2009 at 1:13 am
Primal is one of Cybertron’s greatest hero, a novice explorer who had to become a warrior, a guardian…a savior.
Blue he had way better writting backing him.
Go Beast Wars!! WOOT!
February 16th, 2009 at 1:13 am
Sadly I’m was six and saw Transformers: the movie in the theater, I was one of the first 50 kids and got a free movie poster. And yes I cried when Optimus Died, then my momo bought me Rodimus Prime the that christmas
February 16th, 2009 at 1:14 am
I’m defninitely voting for G1 Optimus Prime. This is the first time seeing the Armada/Energon/Cybertron version of Optimus Prime (but in Lil’ Formers style) and he does look weird (Armada/Energon/Cybertron).
February 16th, 2009 at 1:15 am
…And I do miss my G2 Optimus prime toy, I broke it by accident.
February 16th, 2009 at 1:17 am
Lets face facts Master Piece Optimus Prime is the king of all he toy Primes out there.
February 16th, 2009 at 2:14 am
Animated, as he is just BW Megatron in disguise… yessssssss…..
Oh, and Matt? Think you could draw BW Spittor in LilFormers style? normal and transmetal 2?
February 16th, 2009 at 2:20 am
I grew up with G1 prime so he gets my vote. then maybe Primal then yes i give Rodimus third place. but lets face it Peter Cullen makes the bot.
February 16th, 2009 at 2:27 am
Hey Matt. Is RP’s reference to Breakfast Club?
February 16th, 2009 at 2:53 am
The Rodimus square must be Breakfast Club, since Judd Nelson played Rodimus Prime in the movie and he was also the main character in Breakfast Club. Plus I’m pretty sure that it was Judd’s character that let himself get caught. Took me a while to work that one out, I’ve only seen that movie twice.
February 16th, 2009 at 2:56 am
God I am getting too old! I remember all of these Primes. My vote is for Optimus Prime Classic
February 16th, 2009 at 2:58 am
I’m old. I got the judd nelson reference.
February 16th, 2009 at 3:19 am
Rod’s statement is so about The Breakfast Club! MY vote is for G1 as ultimate Prime with movie-verse as a close second. Though Animated is the one I like the most, I really don’t care much for any of the Primes.
February 16th, 2009 at 3:53 am
Wouldn’t most of your readership get the Rodimus Prime reference simply by virtue of being TF fans?
February 16th, 2009 at 3:59 am
Hooray for Rodimus!
February 16th, 2009 at 4:24 am
Awesome Job!! Can you make more avatars pls? I
February 16th, 2009 at 4:30 am
I was raised on the AEC-Trilogy…
February 16th, 2009 at 5:17 am
i get the Rodimus one. Thats a good one.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:19 am
oh yeah and you should update the avatars armada op missing and so is is animated starscream.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:22 am
One shall stand, the rest will fall… G1 Prime with Cullen = win.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:35 am
Optimus Primal is the best, I mean he’s everything you could ever want; a scientist, a warrior, a zen master, and a gorilla. Seriously.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:43 am
Another reason to vote for Roddie: He was Brooke Shields’ Boss and (if memory serves me right) even made out with her!
February 16th, 2009 at 7:46 am
Armada and energon optimus was pretty cool didnt like cybertron prime but ok AEC Optimus prime good to see tfs again
February 16th, 2009 at 8:19 am
Hmm… Ultimate Prime… Well, good it’s not Ultimate Marvel
February 16th, 2009 at 8:30 am
G1 is not supposed to be here,
he is too high above the others level!
February 16th, 2009 at 8:45 am
If you get any hate mail, could you post them so we may laugh at them?
February 16th, 2009 at 9:18 am
I cast my vote for Animated, because he’s pretty slagging brave(come on, he faced down one of the most competent Megatrons when he was a freaking repairbot!). Then either G1 or Movie. Mostly because Movie did have a bad plan, but still looked and sounded freaking awesome, and had a sadness to him, while G1 is…well, G1, but tended to be even less bright and a little uncaring(leaving Skyfire in the ice without even trying to retrieve him, anyone?).
February 16th, 2009 at 9:42 am
G1 Optimus Prime or G1 Rodimus Prime
February 16th, 2009 at 11:49 am
My vote goes to Primal, but A/E/C Prime comes as a close second Toywise. The this guy Packs enough weaponry to sell some to the other primes and still be heavily armed! =)
February 16th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
G1 Optimus may have died once (or twice depending on your canon) but Primal died three times. End of BW season 1, end of BM season 1, and of BM season 2. Not only that, but he actually killed a Megatron, not many Optimuses can say that.
Who am I kidding? The original is still the best. G1 Optimus Prime is the standard by which we compare all other Autobot leaders.
February 16th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
My vote’s for Primal or Animated Prime. I couldn’t vote for G1 “I killed myself over a video game” Prime or Movie Prime (for the reason you mention). Rodimus gets points for following up on the legendary Optimus and doing a competent job. UT Prime just had some darn cool toys, and Garry Chalk doing the voice. I’d vote for RiD Prime if you’d included him.
February 16th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
I’m putting my vote for Primal. I grew up on that series and he’s still my favorite Prime. G1 Prime is great and all but Primal actually went and got things done.
That and he’s a gorilla. Gorillas are cool.
February 16th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
I say Primal FTW!
Hilarious sketch, keep up the good work Matt
February 16th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Man, what movie Prime says just hurts. Man.
February 16th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Were’s RID Optimus Prime?
February 16th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
I agree with Soundwave Jr. How could you forget my favorite? RID is my all-time favorite series, no matter how goofy the story lines were. RID Prime was the first Prime I ever saw, and HE never died!
February 16th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Optimus always annoyed me. his answer to every problem was “Kill me” it seemed like.
February 16th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
RiD wins my hart!
February 16th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Am I one of the only people who likes the animation from TFA?? (And it is epic so :P) Anyway my vote is for him
But I have to say that Amarda Prime is what I grew up with even if he burns my eyes now…
February 16th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Heh-heh… liked how you fit Rodimus Prime with all incarnations of Optimus Prime. But where’s RID Prime?
February 16th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Can you make an avatar for that Armada Prime, I’ve made a makeshift one but I’d prefer to use the official.
February 16th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
I would have to agree with Zenstrive. G1 is just a different level. Rodimus will always be “non-optimus”; Primal went crazy with his Greenpeace movement; Unicron Trilogy are just discardable universes; Animated Prime is still learning; and Movie Prime, come on, amazing effects but no personality. G1 Prime IS Optimus Prime. Period.
I’m glad you are including Animated! Well, still looks like you hate it, but, at least they show up…
Even though I’m surely old enough, I did not get the RP/JN joke… I guess Latinamerica’s Spanish voice actors never became celebrities…
February 16th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
GIANT ROBO-LIPS!
no wait, Primal
February 16th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Bayformers Prime would win, he’s the best salesman. None of the rest of them manage to say “more than meets the eye” a hundred times in 2hours.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Primal is the first Prime I ever knew, due to my age. I’d say I’m tied up between liking G1 and Bayformers Prime the most…
February 16th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Oooh, sounds like someone’s got a vendetta against Movie Prime.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
lol nice one.
February 16th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
While I do have a soft spot for G1 Prime… and even Roddy, who really had to rise up to the occasion, I gotta go with Primal. Not only did he beat his own Megatron repeatedly, he also had to beat the schemes of G1 Megatron as well. And he sacrificed himself and Megatron to save everyone in the end. Which is more than Prime’s martyr complex normally allows.
So yeah, gotta say Primal gets the nod. Heresy as that may be.
February 16th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
My vote goes to Primal.
February 16th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
I’ll take G1 Optimus as my 1st place, his descendant Primal as my 2nd (dude actually won over Predacons to the Maximal side), and Rodimus as a 3rd, because Armada/Energon/Cybertron Optimus just feels wrong to me, RiD Optimus falls way short on my radar (wasn’t that the one where there were gestalts out the wahoo?), and the Michael Bay Optimus, ugh, he pissed on the Prime legacy more than his subordinate did on the Sector 9 guy.
February 16th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
How many deaths did you say there were?
G1 Optimus: 1 US Cartoon death, 1 Zombie appearance 1 US rebirth, 1 Japanese death, 1 Japanese rebirth, 2 G1 comic deaths and rebirths, 1 G2 comic death (reborn 3 or 4 pages later), and at least 1 near death each in Dreamwave and IDW.
Unicron Trilogy Optimus: 1 death. Had a drink with G1 Prime in the Afterlife along with 2 Optimus Primals.
Rodimus: Lasted until Wreckers Finale. Those who don’t know may or may not want to read what happened.
Animated: 1 death. After only 3 episodes. Revived 75 seconds later. Oy!
Beast Wars: 3 deaths. 2 afterlife versions met G1 and Armada Prime in the Afterlife at Macaddams Old Oil House.
Movie: Died in the videogames, but only in the Decepticon versions.
RID: Had things WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too easy. The villans are either Starscream wannabes or had their IQs in the negatives.
Shattered Glass: At this rate, we hope it’s not long before he dies.
Other: An alt. reality Prime was swapped with Armada Prime in the comic, before the former died. Another dead alt. reality Prime became Universe Nemesis Prime. Don’t forget the 3 possible deaths of Sentinel Prime. Or Nova Prime.
February 16th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
G1 then Primal. Animated takes 3rd place because he beats everyone in getting killed the fastest.
February 16th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
You can’t beat the original.
February 16th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
“You’ve got the touch,
You’ve got the Power.”
Rodimus Prime hands down.
None of the other Primes have a comparable montage or a fishing pole.
February 16th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
If you’re going to Botcon, I’m bringing the tar and feathers!
February 16th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
LMAO The retarded little girls over at TFW2005 don’t like you making fun of Animated or the movie LMAO
Will Transformers 2 be as good as the first one?
I hope this movie is 2 hours and 30 mins long with a lot of soldiers, hackers and only 15 minutes of incoherent action!!! HELL YEAH THAT WILL BE AWESOME!!!!!!!
Will it have abhorrent, horrendous, obnoxious, swirling metal chucks, gorilla arms, unicycle retard looking Transformers in it.
Great job Bay keep lying to everybody about how your extremely expensive, hyper realistic Transformers is the only look that works and is not silly.. No middle ground between the original look and these bionicles metal junk piles….
It needs to have Shia Ledouche doing his crazy retard shtick, talking to himself and saying NoNoNoNoNoNoNoNoNoNoNo. Megan Fox trying to act and looking like a 30 year old raged out street walker whore.
More shameful masturbating close ups of her stomach… More random characters who have no purpose in the film.
What will make it funny is to have more scenes of Transformers stumbling around like morons hiding in the backyard, golden shower scenes, bumblebee farting on Sam’s dad. COMEDY GOLD! Horrible Stereotypes and blatant racism. So much respect to source material….
Sure to get the Oscar this time, (Golden Compass LMAO) as long as we still have Michael Bay’s AWESOME character development, 20 camera using, seizure inducing can’t tell whats going on shaky cam, fast cut editing, emphatic tight close ups, helicopter in the sunset, extremely nauseating, repulsive, over the top product placement, and slow motion over dramatic explosions.
February 16th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Primal is the most awesome, mostly because the writing on BW was better than anything else at the time. G1 gets high marks because that’s what I grew up with. But Animated is a great series too, sure the animation is quirky, but I’ve got a ton of G1 on tape and it’s no better - I still like both of them better than RiD and the UT though.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Objectively speaking, my vote would go to Primal for having the more pronounced sense of humour and for having some sweet potential in his story. Subjectively, I’m going to go with Movie Prime (I happen to like him, so I guess I’m not a real fan :P) because he’s more casual than G1 Prime and also has potential in both the action and character departments. Ignoring his admittedly stupid plan (which I see as a by-product of Lord of The Rings), he’s done pretty well so far. Animated also gets props for being a pretty good leader despite overwhelming odds.
I don’t think Animated and Movie Primes are as bad as people here are making them out to be (it’s still too soon, I say we give them the same period of time G1 or even Primal had before judging), but this is Transformers. Our wiki has an article to deal with what the fans think is RUINED FOREVER. XD
It’s also a misconception that the line ‘More than Meets the Eye’ is abused in the movie. Sam says it once, then thinks it’s a horrible pick-up line. Prime says it at the end. The end.
Also, I’m predicting the sequel will have more of what the first did except bigger budget=more focus on the robots, ergo even the Decepticons get character development scenes, plus a probable greater focus on robot-to-robot action. It won’t be winning any Oscars for plot, and I’m sure we’ll just complain about it again, but I’m actually feeling a little optimistic about this one.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
What about the firetruck from RID, I vote that Prime for 2nd place.
February 16th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
I can’t choose !! They are all awesome !!! However , I grew up with Beast wars and now the movie version . While some fans don’t like it …. I agree with what he says , he’s more known to the general public .
February 16th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
Ha! I got the Breakfast club reference (i’m getting old), anyway, vote G1!
February 17th, 2009 at 1:34 am
“I wanna be an airborne ranger…
I wanna live the life of danger…”
February 17th, 2009 at 1:44 am
I’d vote for G1 Prime (originals are always the best) and Animated Prime (while I’m not one for the graphics, he puts up very well with Sentinel Prime. If I was Optimus, I would have reduced Sentinel to scrap by the 2nd or 3rd episode he was in.)
February 17th, 2009 at 2:26 am
WOW! That was a great strip. I admit I was hoping for a TF one this week but I thought you’d make fun of the movie Devastator figure we saw this weekend. But everything you do is great. I like all the old 80’s stuff you dig up.
February 17th, 2009 at 2:30 am
Decisions, decisions… Normally, I would just place my vote under the option of “Can’t we all just get along?”, however the last few times I tried that I got reamed, so… I’m going with Primal, most for this line, “Well that’s just Prime. (Rattrap mutters, “Or what’s left of him.”)
February 17th, 2009 at 3:16 am
G1 Prime: once a dock worker, then leader of the Autobots for FIVE MILLION YEARS - long enough for an entire PLANET to run dry - before being stranded on Earth for another four million. (Managed to survive BW Megs’ face-blast - thanks to Primal.) The fate of Earth and Cybertron hung in the balance more than once. The Matrix of Leadership defeated Unicron - but only after Optimus Prime’s spark joined the Matrix. Then he came back from the dead.
Primal: captain of an exploratory science vessel (with a secret mission he failed), forced to do battle with an egomaniacal fanatic bent on remaking the universe in his image. Died once by being tricked, lost his ship off a cliff, died again, brought BW Megatron to Cybertron - oops! Lost Cybertron to Megatron; died defeating him once and for all - but only after his team gets killed.
Primal may be a descendant of Prime, but even Rodimus had a better record.
February 17th, 2009 at 3:29 am
G1 - had roller
Rodney - first prime to have flames
Primal - had a hoverboard
RiD - put out one fire.
Armada - turned Starscream ‘good’
Energon - started off fat, and just got bigger.
Cybertron - could do ventriloquism with a lion puppet.
Movie - silly transformation.
Animated - chin!
Now, obviously G1 Prime wins, because everyone else left Roller in kennels, and that little guy is lovely.
February 17th, 2009 at 4:27 am
Rodimus! hahaha! Man, my cousin has a die cast toy of rodimus. complete with hot rod mode and rodimus prime with a truck. Hehehe. The truck part doesn’t transform.
February 17th, 2009 at 5:08 am
I actually dont like Armada Prime as a character, but he does look the coolest! Maybe you should add him to the avatar goodies ;)?
February 17th, 2009 at 5:46 am
G1 all the way!!!…
Rodimus- Hey where is Ally Sheedy when I need her?
February 17th, 2009 at 10:09 am
Wow, this one has caused an upset! Primal was the most well rounded of the lot, but he’s not Prime and if you include Beast Machines character reversal he’s nowhere near the others. I don’t want to vote for G-1 because it feels like I’m jumping on the band wagon but I have to. He learnt from his mistakes. So my vote is G-1
Oh and I think the animation back in G-1 was a hell of a lot worse than Animated’s style. Even if I don’t like it.
February 17th, 2009 at 10:42 am
YEAH!!!
G1 Forever^^
And, the movie version of Trashformers, are sucks.
The same are his movie, and your trashformers (Arcce Gestal Autobot??? Nonsense XD)
February 17th, 2009 at 11:55 am
Girls over at Tfw2005, LMFAO!!! Rule 30: There are no girls on the internet, just fat nerds that act like them.
February 17th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Fudgecrumpet said it. Roller FTW!
February 17th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Quoting Denton:
“Primal is the most awesome, mostly because the writing on BW was better than anything else at the time. G1 gets high marks because that’s what I grew up with. But Animated is a great series too, sure the animation is quirky, but I’ve got a ton of G1 on tape and it’s no better - I still like both of them better than RiD and the UT though.”
I think this is how I’d rank them. G1 Prime gets 2nd place for being the original, but EVERY ’80s cartoon show had horrible writing, and G1 is part of that. Some stuff was just over-the-top horrible. (Remember the episode where Optimus has a “fair” fight with Megs?)
Primal gets 1st place for being the most competent leader in transformers history. (Well until Beast Machines, but let’s not talk about that…) He is always stepping up the plate and saving the day.
And while Primal is the most competent Autobot/Maximal leader, Animated Megs is the most competent Decepticon/Predicon leader, and as such Animated Prime gets 3rd for not buckling under the pressure. As has been stated, Animated Megs is not only a leader but an amazing warrior. Yes, he took down Animated Prime, but Prime gets points for not being one-shotted by a sword to the face. (As compared to the many deaths of Animated Starscream. )
February 17th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
G1 Optimus, Live Action Optimus, and Rodimus Prime, followed by Ultra Magnus (He was the one who was suppose to inherit the Matrix, but dying, Prime dropped it and Rodimus caught making him leader by touching the Matrix, although no one knew it).
I do have to agree, Peter Cullin makes the bot, whether live or G1 cartoon/movie.
Note: Orson Wells as Unicron along with Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) as Galvatron in the 1980’s Movie is just awesome.
February 17th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
My vote is for movie Prime, and prime’s plan was pretty silly.
February 17th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Okay, where’s RiD!? I want RiD.
February 18th, 2009 at 2:46 am
a beakfast club reference awesomely hilarious. of course G1 prime gets my vote after all a Prime isn’t Prime till he dies more then twice and still come back to say corny heroic lines and win the battle.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:04 am
Errrrr… where’s BM?!
Anywhooo… a 2-way tie between G1 Prime and BW Primal. Animated Prime’s comment about monkeys cracked me up. XD
February 18th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
WHERES G2 PRIME!!!!
February 18th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
G1 optimus prime, i can vouch he was big not just with kids but with parents aswell, between my father who watched transformers with me when i was a kid and a friend’s father who found him cool becose he became a fricking truck
February 18th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Movie Prime: He’s being REALLY understimated, plus what he said is right, deal with it, and how is his transformation silly? I say is by far the most realistic out of all, say what you want, Movie Prime is being unfairly judge.
February 18th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Gotta go Beast Wars.
February 18th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
That comment about the animated series was just plain insulting….. To the monkeys that is!
Robotic Stubble Chin for the WIN!
February 19th, 2009 at 8:46 am
OFF TOPIC: … I like this site, but this was a little bit below the belt and not needed… http://www.shortpacked.com/d/20090219.html
February 19th, 2009 at 11:33 am
Cullen-on-a-bike! When did Willis get all douchebaggy?
February 19th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
“Cullen-on-a-bike! When did Willis get all douchebaggy?”
A few hours after he edited the Lil Formers TF Wiki page attacking Matt personally?
February 19th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
GI Rodimus cracks me up!
February 19th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Beast Wars sucks, and SO DOES SHORTPACKED!!!!
February 19th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
David willis is a beasties apologist anyway, screw him!!
February 19th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
I… liked the Michael Bay movie.
There, I said it. Was it flawed? Yes. Could it have been better? Most definitely.
But it entertained me, and that’s all I ever wanted from it. Besides, “big robots punched and shot at each other while indulging in blatant product placement” sounds a lot like the original cartoon series… what with that being a vehicle for toys and all…
February 19th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
It’s unfortunate when the creator of something you like suddenly gets vindictive. I read Shortpacked as well and I didn’t think he was the sort to get all personal and snarky. I always thought he was slightly too infatuated, but now he’s really getting obsessive.
February 19th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Going by the cartoons I remember as I never read the comics….
I say Animated wins by default, but tied with Primal as a leader. Armada… nah. The movie didn’t have enough time to give him justice or being mocked.
G1 Prime… nostalgia aside, kind of an idiot:
“Decepticons stealing jet fuel?! Let’s BLOW UP THE ENTIRE AIRBASE defending the fuel for said airbase!”
Prime is the JFK of Primes. Died while still highly charismatic, but before we began to really realize he wasn’t all that he was cracked up to be.
Rodimus… better, and they refined his characterization for Animated, so it is kind of like Rodimus 2.0 inside a Optimus body wins…
February 20th, 2009 at 12:54 am
Animated Prime gets my vote probably because he’s the most recent in my mind, but I like how he overcomes his youth and inexperience (things Rodimus and Primal dealt with as well, granted; I just think Animated Prime handles it better). Movie Optimus is kind of an interesting case; in most of the movie-related fiction, he seems really… untouchable. Just larger than life. It’s why the movie and comics focus more on less important characters like Arcee or Bumblebee, because Prime is just too “big” to really get looked at too closely. It’s kind of a shame, because it’s left him almost without any sort of personality.
February 20th, 2009 at 3:50 am
are you counting trippy religious guru primal from beast masines together with his beast war self?
February 20th, 2009 at 3:57 am
I dont remember anything about the 80s i was born in 87 and i still get the Breakfast club reference ….nor have i ever seen it for that matter and my vote is for Classic Prime but by extension if following canon we should all appreciate Primal.
February 20th, 2009 at 4:00 am
Guys, people do things out of spite without realizing it, sometimes the fog becomes to hazy and we are lost, nobody is mean by nature
February 20th, 2009 at 7:03 am
G1 Optimus Prime for me, please. The others are just imitators. (except Rodimus. He just sucks)
I don’t like the art style of Animated, but the writing’s actually pretty good. I don’t know what they were smoking, when they came up with those designs, but they must have bought some pretty cheap stuff. At least the alt modes aren’t made out of meat.
February 20th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
I think TAnimated’s art style was an attempt to ride the new wave that seems to be breaking. Look at how many shows are going the anime imitation route to varying degrees.
I half suspect Tanimated was either trying to go the opposite direction or just took the series into the super deformed anime direction so far that it is coming around the other end of the mobius strip.
February 20th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
MONKEYBOT! For best characterization and worst alt mode.
Then G1, cause he has the wise, benevolent father-figure market cornered.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
G1 Prime! I don’t reconize these other things!
February 20th, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Its a breakfast club reference, right? cause Judd nelson voiced Rodimus Prime in the movie. pretty funny, and, you could sorta consider Optimal Optimus Primal a prime since he has the power(Touch) of the matrix inside him.
February 21st, 2009 at 2:13 am
“…except for Judd Nelson… he was harsh!”
Love today’s strip Matt!
February 22nd, 2009 at 1:03 am
DONT MAKE ME CHOOSE!! RID optimus isn’t up there …
February 22nd, 2009 at 10:03 am
Primal gets my vote.
February 22nd, 2009 at 11:21 am
G1 made me a robotics engineer, yes nuf said.
animated…i just can´t bear to watch it, teen titans + Transformers…2 goods results in one BIG wrong, I also get the feeling TA Prime is going to be made weak to kryptonite, yeah not a good vision huh?!

I would normally never consider ever voting for Rodimus for anything, but that Judd Nelson/”Breakfast Club” reference won some major points…wow, I’m like, old; like Diaclone old…
March 3rd, 2009 at 9:41 am
Primal was the best leader, but in a straight-out fight, Armada wins (using his body from Transformers Cybertron).

I’m going with Ani!Optimus, absolutely. He’s my all-time favorite Prime!
-He’s easier to connect to than the other Primes. I can totally relate to him.
-Character development: it’s a wonderful thing.
-Sense of humor. It’s pretty subtle, somewhat sarcastic, and it makes me laugh.
…He does get minus points for dying in the first episode, though.
Mostly I just think he’s more interesting than most of the others.

Boo.
G1 and Rodimus! Honestly those two were freaking awesome! Although I don’t count those Japenese Episodes, cause I don’t consider those real transformers. Eh, it doesn’t really matter. Oh, and Primal was great too.

Movie Prime as first merely because it was so damn awesome seeing him come to real life (no matter HOW junktastic). I agree with Sinister above.

I mean c’mon, the animation wasn’t THAT bad.
May 29th, 2009 at 12:14 am
Movie prime or animated prime.
I’m sorry, but after Transwarped, I’m a fan of Animated, deal with it.
June 26th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
In this order:
4th: Rodimus. Whatever.
-
3rd: Unicron Trilogy Prime. He had the voice I remembered as Primal, so that endeared me to him, but after the switch to that God-awful CG animation in Energon, I stopped watching the show altogether.
-
2nd (tie): Animated Prime. Had some of the best writing of any TF series. Plus he took down a Megatron that could honestly make any other Megatron piss his pants.
-
2nd (tie): Primal. Loved him before I even knew what Autobots and Decepticons were (”They used to turn into cars? That’s cool, but… weird.” -My thinking when I was 10). And yes, I’m including Beast Machines. Truth be told, the show didn’t really interest me when it was first on, but I went back and watched it again recently and I found it to be very well-written, despite (and possibly even thanks to) the whole organic thing.
-
1st (tie): G1 Prime. The first actual Optimus PRIME that I found out about (from a chance encounter with the G1 movie in a video rental store while Beast Machines was still on the air). My introduction to him was him heroically dying. And for years, that’s all I really knew about him. But that made him something of a legend to me.
-
1st (tie): Movie Prime. Just for that first time he transforms. I had chills running down my spine when I saw that semi come out of the fog, split apart and slowly start to stand up as it rearranged itself into what I instantly believed was what Optimus Prime would look like if he actually existed. And then he spoke, and it was Peter Cullen. It was like my childhood came to life. It was a magical moment. The rest of the movie was just popcorn fun, but that scene was something else.

I love them all! well… except Hotrod,, I can’t stand Rodimus prime but Hotrod’s okay…
August 22nd, 2009 at 4:09 pm
I think movie prime because in G1 Optimus got owned and didn’t kill anyone. But in ROTF OP owned megatron, owned starscream with his own arm and ripped off grindor’s face
October 1st, 2009 at 10:54 pm
I’m far too big a fan of both G1 and the movies…. hehe. and yep i’m far too old, sadly i get the joke. man i feel old.
October 6th, 2009 at 7:59 pm

October 18th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
I LOVE THEM ALL SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
November 11th, 2009 at 3:29 am
G1 and movie, yessssss ‘it only took me 3 series to defeat megatron’ oh plese! it took movie optimus to defeat him in about an hour and a half!
November 12th, 2009 at 5:34 am
i love G1 so much but armada has a point. 3 seasons to down meganoob is a good achivment. wish my xbox had that
“downed megatron in less than 3years(average time to 1 season ratio). 9,000 gamer points”
November 12th, 2009 at 5:36 am
ooh and in my list not optimus comes 2nd last. just after primal but still before movie. movie looks good but its just not the same
November 13th, 2009 at 9:20 am

November 13th, 2009 at 9:22 am

July 3rd, 2010 at 10:35 am
I just started watched animated recently, and I kinda like the angle they took with optimus in it. I grew up with unicron trilogy though so I’ll go with him
July 27th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
G1 Prime FTW! But what about RID Prime?
August 19th, 2010 at 6:05 am
RID Prime has this going for him: He never died.
November 14th, 2010 at 10:17 am
As much as I like your strips, just what the heck is your beef with animation of Animated? The show itself is pretty good.
November 27th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Apparently Rodimus was a part of the Cybertronian version of “The Breakfast Club”.
December 18th, 2010 at 2:36 am
I grew up with armada!! that was what I watched every morning before school… but I’ve been watching G1 recently and yeah I will admit it is better, but I still love armada Starscream’s voice! But it seems like EVERYONE wants to pick on Armada and the minicons, it almost makes me feel ashamed to admit that I like it…T_T DARN MY INFIRIORITY COMPLEX TO THE PIT!
May 17th, 2011 at 1:46 am
I vote either Armada or G1. I actually got used to animaterd pretty quickly so I can’t dismiss him all that quick and his rookie self was an interesting spin on OP. Movie Prime was alright but too generic. Rodimus……was better off being Hot Rod. Primal…. was alright until he went psycho “make everything organic” in BM, but also not quite my fave anyway. RID Prime was alright. Lio Convoy and Big Convoy were more awesome than Primal (and sorta count as Primes so that’s three you missed
just for the record). G1 Prime is a classic (technically died three times if you add him being a zombie). He was a calm, wise, and Straightforward leader. Armada Prime in my fanon is pretty much G1 Prime, but what distinguishes himis that at least in Armada he’s like the oriiginal but with a bit more emotion. He doesn’t sacrifice himself needlessly (in fact his only true death was when singlehandedly blocked a blast with his body that would’ve destroyed the Earth because there was no other way to prevent the Earth’s destruction). He also took as long as he did to kill Megatron because 1. Megatron seemingly killed himself twice and 2. Megatron kept getting more and more Unicron powered (G1 Galvy just got upgraded and then he eneded up being no more powerful than Megs and Hot Rod still had a handful with him). So Yeah G1 or Armada. But ROFL ALL OF THE PRIMES COMMENTS ARE SO TRUE!
July 5th, 2011 at 11:09 pm
G1 Optimus Prime rules, do any of the others have a magical appearing trailer? Generation 1 rules all!
July 18th, 2011 at 3:46 pm
it is true movie is popular and i am going to see transformers 3 it is going to be cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 8th, 2011 at 2:19 pm
being 574 years old, i can safely say this:
One prime to rule them all, One prime to find them,
One prime to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
that prime is
Spock Prime :L
naw but g1 and movie are legendary because of peter cullen

This is getting somewhat extra subjective, but I significantly prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has much more flair, and a few cool capabilities like ‘Mixview’ that let you rapidly see related albums, songs, or other consumers similar to that which you’re listening to. Clicking on certainly one of those people will center on that merchandise, and another arranged of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate all-around exploring by similar artists, songs, or customers. Talking of consumers, the Zune “Social” can also be fantastic pleasurable, letting you uncover other people with shared tastes and turning into close friends with them. You then can hear to a playlist designed according to an amalgamation of what all of your buddies are listening to, which can be also pleasurable. People involved with privacy will likely be relieved to be aware of you’ll be able to prevent the general public from seeing your own listening routines in the event you so decide on.
