Lil Formers #141: Captain N
Can you believe there was once a time and place where Castlevania, Mega Man, Zelda, Metroid, and others existed in one continuity? Oh man… I miss Captain N.
PS: Been wanting to use the Captain forever!

March 30th, 2009 at 12:39 am
Great one Matt. Captain N was fun.
March 30th, 2009 at 2:11 am
I miss the Cap’n!
March 30th, 2009 at 2:41 am
Yay, Captain N!
And Who is Katelyn and Keene? I know Samus…
March 30th, 2009 at 2:46 am
Überfunny and cool work here. Captain N, oh, that brings back so many memories…
Also, better check her closet and schoolbag to make sure she’s not hiding any PSP too.
March 30th, 2009 at 5:14 am
Yeah, I remember that show. I still think this is what Sliders was based on.
March 30th, 2009 at 6:07 am
Captian F***** N
I thouht I was the only one who rememberd him.
March 30th, 2009 at 8:25 am
Zenstrive, Keene is the last name. I don’t know where Katelyn came from though.
I remember that show.
March 30th, 2009 at 9:18 am
The sooner we all forget about Captain N, the better. The only good thing to come out of that was the first half of that episode where King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard dressed up as TV Repair men.
March 30th, 2009 at 10:03 am
Oh, Captain N… I remember the comics, they were great. The show… eh…
It’s great to compare character depictions then and now. Like Pit! Of course, Captain N’s Mega Man makes me shudder in fear. I’m not a fan of Castlevania, but I’m sure Captain N’s Simon does the same to Castlevania fans.
Nice touch with the photo, btw.
March 30th, 2009 at 10:04 am
Wow^^
Captain N.
An Icon from my past.
But, are sad for him, don’t have returned with TMNT, He-Man and Biker Micers From Mars (ok, this last NEVER can returned).
March 30th, 2009 at 10:29 am
No idea what you’re talking about this time…
March 30th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
that was the best! for a second there though, i was thinking it was the dad from bionic 6 then i scrolled down more and saw the belt. very good!
March 30th, 2009 at 12:11 pm
Great! XD I’m not old enough to remember Captain N when it was new but I did watch some episodes not too long ago and it’s old fashioned fun! Just another one of the great shows to come out of that era.
March 30th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
DUDE - I didn’t think anyone else remembered Captain N. A-MAZ-ING. Might have been nice to sneak Princess Lana into the frame though…she was a hottie…
March 30th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
*S&K DoomsDay* *Chaos Emeralds spin round and turns super!*
BBUUWWHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It’s I,Mexxronnus challenges YOU, Captain N!
March 30th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Awesome flashback moment, Matt. Strangely I saw an ad from Shout! Factory for Captain N on my Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors just the other day! Wow, I need to buy this series quick!
Thanks again M!
March 30th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
Bring it on more nostalgic cartoon^^
March 30th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
Someone remenber Sky Commanders?
March 30th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
So you gave Captain N a daughter. Oh well, at least it beats the author of Captain SNES (a sprite comic) giving Mega Man a split personality.
March 30th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
please do a halo strip i mean its on the cover
March 30th, 2009 at 2:06 pm

March 30th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Ha ha! Nice man. Nintendo will always be the best… XD
March 30th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
This is amazing. Top-notch as usual!
I’m so going to name my daughter Samus now.
March 30th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
I am also how you say a Nintendo loyalist, no?
March 30th, 2009 at 10:42 pm
That is awesome!
I’m not sure about Captain N…but it was really funny. Zelda and Metroid in the same continuity…only in my dreams did I think that possible
March 30th, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Oh gods in the heavens…the horror, the horror. Worst memory as a kid was the Captain N episode where they went to Hyrule. It completly undid all that was great with the Zelda cartoon, and totally screwed with continuity in it….
Other than that the show was fun, I hated the Megaman and Simon Belmont interpritations though.
March 31st, 2009 at 1:56 am
I wonder if nintendo will go Capitan Cube or Wii or something on us?
March 31st, 2009 at 1:33 pm
If you dig Captain N, and dig webcomics, check out captainsnes.com. It is awesome in so many ways.
March 31st, 2009 at 4:06 pm
The graying temples are a nice touch.
April 1st, 2009 at 3:31 pm
lol, Captain N. Memories all come back to me. I think his daughter’s middle name was named after SAmus.
April 2nd, 2009 at 7:36 am
OK I’m shocked that no one brought up Super Smash Bros. I wonder if Nintendo would ever use Captain N as a main or hidden character or even Nester from Nintendo Power as a joke character. Wish list for the next Smash Bros. would be to include adding him, Mega Man, Simon Belmont, and (uber wishful thinking) Alucard. LOL anyone else remember the Wambat Man episode where they actually used the DIC Joe Cartoon music.
April 2nd, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Have any of you heard of the live-action webshow The Adventures of Captain S? It’s an affectionate parody of both Captain N and family-friendly early-90s sitcoms. This comic reminded me of it, and I couldn’t help but drop a plug for it here.
April 2nd, 2009 at 6:03 pm
is that a XBOX 360 halo 3 game in captain N’s hand?!! OH SWEET!!!!
April 3rd, 2009 at 2:40 am
“It completly undid all that was great with the Zelda cartoon”
Well, excuuuuuse me Princess.
April 3rd, 2009 at 10:39 pm
You and the captain, make it happen!
April 11th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
While it was awesome that video games got television series back then, well, there were things about Captain N I could NOT forgive.
April 13th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
Simon Belmont was a blonde hack? No way. Captain N was terrible.
Anyone remember that “gameboy” robot?
shudder
April 18th, 2009 at 1:23 am

there all good games
August 3rd, 2009 at 9:55 am
Captain N… kind of sucked. They completely destroyed every character that appeared on the show, and the animation was horrible. I mean, really, Simon Belmont in a PILOT SUIT? GREEN Mega Man who keeps putting “Mega” at the end of his sentences? Mother Brain is voiced by Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors? A WALKING, TALKING GAME BOY? It was just stupid.
August 3rd, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Also, @Rhuen’s comment: The Zelda cartoon was GREAT? That’s not what I heard. I mean, seriously, all he was allowed to do was shoot sword beams because the censors apparently thought that every kid had access to a sword. This got really ridiculous in one episode plot I heard about. It went something like this: He traded in his sword for a replacement. At a critical moment, he discovers it cannot shoot sword beams. This apparently renders him COMPLETELY DEFENSELESS despite it being a perfectly functional sword. Seriously, how LAME is that?
Oh, and in my previous comment, scratch out the “kind of.”
August 3rd, 2009 at 11:06 pm
I AM a Nintendo loyalist, though, but this, LOZ Tv Series, and all THREE Super Mario cartoons completely screwed EVERYTHING up. They came close to ruining it FOREVER.
And don’t get me started on the live action Mario film… shudder…
August 10th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
And let’s not forget, “Well, excuuuuuuuuuse me, Princess!” How bad is that line? It was heavily used in the CD-i Zelda games. And we all know how that turned out.
October 14th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
on the cover of the Xbox360 it kinda looks like masterchief for some reasen…
November 12th, 2009 at 6:13 am
i hated nintendo so much. sega was was good in the early days. i sat on the genisis and later the mgadrive for days at a time.
also random fact time. nintendo did not make first handheld unit. sega beat them to it by at least 5 years. however unlike nintendo the handheld sega unit actually played the exact same games as the console units did just on a small portable cartridge system. meaning if you really wanted to play sonic 2 on a trip rather than waiting to get home on your sega just pop in the equalivant cartridge and off you went

They had some Captain N comics that I liked… especially the intro for Samus Aran. (Probably paraphrased, but the general idea stuck with me?)
Princess Lana: Samus Aran is one of the greatest bounty hunters in the galaxy, one of the most powerful warriors…
(Samus takes off helmet)
Lana: Samus is a woman?!
Captain N: I’ll say she is!
May 2nd, 2010 at 5:09 pm
And to tie this cartoon back in with TFs… Princess Lana was voiced by our favorite black-widow-portrayer Venus Terzo!
