Lil Formers #142: Last(ish) Son of Krypton
5 panels, wow! Longest Lil Formers ever?
Just something I have noticed lately, DC has gone Krypton-wild. Of everyone I mentioned, Earth-two Superman is currently dead (he’ll be back shortly). and I think Kingdom Come Supes went back to his own time (haven’t read that far in JSA yet). Otherwise they’re all around, heh.
I think I mentioned everyone but Christopher Kent, who I don’t really know much about…

April 6th, 2009 at 12:26 am
so true, so true LoL.
April 6th, 2009 at 12:28 am
oh and the worst part is, all these super-people running around was part of the reason for that whole Final crisis thing, to make Super-man unique again…and…they went back to bringing most of them back, plus some.
April 6th, 2009 at 12:29 am
Not to mention Beppo-The Super Monkey, Streaky-The Super Horse, Hissy-The Super Snake, and whatever the hell that cat is called.
Super animals unite!
April 6th, 2009 at 12:37 am
Streaky and the cat are not kryptonian but yes, you made the point. Maybe “the last son” is the short for “the last son in the last five minutes”.
April 6th, 2009 at 1:04 am
Christopher Kent is Zod’s son from the Phantom zone. He was adopted by Lois and Clark but went back into the zone then right back out. I believe he is now Nightwing (the kryptonian super hero not Dick Grayson) helping Flamebird (another Kryptonian) keep tabs on Metropolis while Superman is away on New Krypton.
April 6th, 2009 at 1:21 am
What about Bizarro? And Super-Boy (the young clone). And I think the Cyborg uses Super-man’s DNA.
April 6th, 2009 at 1:30 am
Just wanted to point out that Krypto looks adorable.
April 6th, 2009 at 2:11 am
yes, its a shame not even DC knows how to kill them, Im guessing kryptonians reproduce asexually and thats the reason for so many of them popping up everywere.
April 6th, 2009 at 6:14 am
Yeah but the new Krypton story Rocks! and anyway Daxamites are similar to Kryptonians but with enough differences that they never really took anything away from the superman mythos to me. Similar powers but different weaknesses. for one the’re deathly vulnerable to lead poisoning.
Anyway I’m just dreading when they try to stuff the geine back into the bottle and try to get rid of the new planet Krypton. I currently love the new series taking place on it. But at least DC has said that they’re trying to make it an importaint part of the DCU.
April 6th, 2009 at 6:16 am
Oh and may I ask how far you are into the JSA storyline. Kingdom Come superman is amazing all around.
April 6th, 2009 at 6:21 am
Yeah, defining himself the last son of krypton seem kinda outdated.
And this not coutnign all the other dimensional Superman wannabe, because they are not kryptonian(is like a complex of inferiority there are at least two Supes wannabe in every other comic book dimension.)
April 6th, 2009 at 6:43 am
@Wildmansy: Gimme me hi five, my DC reader brotha’!
Kal El was the last son, as in the last son born in the real Krypton before Kandor was plucked out by the real Brainiac and before the entire planet Krypton was blown up.
Afterward there is only one son born: Lor-Zod a.k.a Christopher Kent, biological son of Zod and Ursa (or perhaps Non?)
It was told that the planet blew up because infestation from the real denizens of the phantom zone. One of them get out each time one of the kryptonian is transported there.
But that was retconned as Kara Zor-El having hallucinations due to the job of the Darkstar, then retconned again as Kara Zor-El having hallucinations due to Kryptonite poisoning.
And there is Daxam, the planet which the populations are distant cousin of Kryptonians but has weakness toward lead. They will wreak havoc in Green Lantern Corps
April 6th, 2009 at 9:02 am
hahahaha, hilarious.
Way to go Matt
April 6th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Awww Krypto…
April 6th, 2009 at 10:07 am
It isn’t Superman Prime anymore, he is back to Superboy Prime.
April 6th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
There’s also the various other super animals, including a monkey (Maybe it’s a chimp?) and a horse.
I don’t know if they still exist in the main DC universe though.
April 6th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Yeah, you’ve just summed up why I’ve given dc a wide berth for a long time. The bloody dc encyclopedia’s no help either, that just confuses matters more.
April 8th, 2009 at 2:34 am
if we want to get real technical about it, there is also Doomsday (a freaky clone of Superman).
Also Streaky was the cat not the horse.
And Captain Marvel is a “kinda” copy of Superman, although not a Kryptonian.
*also semi-rant: I was excited when I heard Doomsday was going to be on Smallville, but now, the writers don’t know what they are doing. They are lagging, and can’t seem to know how to move forward, thus turning the man who killed Superman into some lame Hulk rip-off who is a serial killer.
April 8th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Super Girl and Power Girl are the same person aren’t they? I think Power Girl is Earth 2 super girl.
April 8th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
I will agree with the best statement above me.
Krypto is adorable.
April 8th, 2009 at 8:12 pm
Yeah, I always thought “last son of Krypton” referred to the fact that he was literally the last son of Krypton. Meaning he was born, shipped out, and the world blew up. I never thought it meant “last Kryptonian.” Those are two totally different descriptions.
Though I suppose if you can’t understand that, this comic makes a really good point!
April 8th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
I also agree that Krypto is adorable.
Man’s best friend: Superman’s best friend!
April 8th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
And the Erradicator?
April 9th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
He *wishes* he was the last son of Krypton!
I’ll also add agreement that Krypto is some adorable. Super-pets: taking over the world one set of super puppy eyes at a time.;)
April 9th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
As far as the Smallville version of Doomsday goes, I enjoy that version far more than any thing I’ve read in the comics. The comic version always felt more like a plot device to me rather than an actual super villain.
April 10th, 2009 at 1:29 am
true Denton, but they seem kinda stuck with him, the crystal coccoon thing seems pointless, in fact he felt like he came out of it weaker than when he went in. (guess being stabbed and gaining immunity to being stabbed by metal objects doesn’t translate some how to *can’t be burned either*. The tragic monster angle is different for Doomsday, but until he embraces being the evil destroyer the character will hang in limbo.
April 11th, 2009 at 12:11 am
I think we need a Krypto avatar.
But yeah, I agree with the silliness that is the “last son” of Krypton.
Oh, and Comet was the Super-Horse. Streaky was the Super-Cat.
April 11th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
Krypto is @#$% adoimal
April 11th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
don’t forget super monkey
April 12th, 2009 at 3:02 am
We absolutely need a krypto avatar !!
April 12th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
All these supermen confuse me…
April 12th, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Tee-hee. Krypto’s pose reminds me of the Longcat!
April 13th, 2009 at 7:03 am
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!
April 13th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Yet another retarded one. These are getting gayer and gayer every week
April 13th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Superman and Spider-man had daughters.
April 13th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
This was a really good one, Matt.
April 13th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
I too think that the term refers to “the last Kryptonian born on Krypton”. No Kryptonians were born on the planet after him. (And just to add to the confusion, even though Supergirl seems younger, she was technically born first, then trapped in stasis for a while.
@Rhuen
Yeah, that’s the way Doomsday is, even in the comics AFAIK. He’s vulnerable to everything a normal terran/Kryptonian is, but once something “KILLS” him, he comes back immune to it.
@Asher Tye
Unless it’s changed recently (I’m behind on my reading), the Superboy clone (Conner) is kinda… deceased. Sorry.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:42 am
talk about a way to ruin a movie! CUUUUT!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
wait a second, earth two superman is the villain ULTRAMAN!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 9:44 am
I too think that the term refers to “the last Kryptonian born on Krypton”. No Kryptonians were born on the planet after him.
Says who? It depends on how old he was when rocketed away.
Now you just need a companion piece with Batman standing on a gargoyle bemoaning his lonely, isolated lot… aside from Dick… and Jason… and Tim… and Barbara… and Cass… and Helena… and Steph… and Alfred… and the Outsiders… and Jim Gordon…. until the gargoyle collapses under their combined weight!
May 5th, 2009 at 7:24 pm

May 25th, 2009 at 3:03 pm

October 14th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
no offecne but she talks to much
November 20th, 2009 at 7:37 am
this reminds me of a massive batman and superman crossover i read. the B team and S teams thought there leaders got caught so did a massive raid on lex luthers white house. in the end they were bait for the real ones but i rember going.
“dang thats alot of krypto powered bats” there was not 1 person missing from either comic book lore that was even remotely good.
November 21st, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Krypto looks like a chihuahua. Not that I have anything against chihuahuas.
January 16th, 2010 at 3:06 pm

February 9th, 2010 at 11:50 pm
Create your own characters.
March 26th, 2010 at 12:45 am
Mon El, Sodam Yat and the other Daxamites are cousins to the Kryptonians, only lead is lethal to Daxamites
