Lil Formers #143: Powered Commander
A strip for the gang at TFcon. (Where, just a reminder, I’ll be appearing this weekend, April 25-26!)
Also one of the most geeky strips ever as many of you probably don’t know about the TF-Con Exclusive version of the Fansproject City Commander upgrade kit. And even fewer of you would remember the pre-Transformers Diaclone Powered Convoy figure upon which it is based.
There you go, I just gave you an hour of stuff to google!

I think the Powered Commander is pretty cool, but considering that I’d have to put it on my classics prime it’s kinda out of the question since he’s a great display piece by himself.

I was almost hoping for some comment that the Powered Convoy colour scheme was only used in the obscure japanese promotional trailer for the 1986 movie, before Ultra Magnus was colour corrected. But I know that’s just the TF-geek in me… -_-’

Poor UM. At last he gets the coolest upgrade kit on earth to be able to deal with life, and everyone else gets one (Nemesis, OP/Pre-TF Diaclone guy/Pre-Movie UM). And with additional gimmicks. BTW, this one includes the double missile launchers, that sort of energon case and anything else?

Ah Powered Convoy - why Hasbro repainted him to the Ultra Magnus colours I will never know.

@ Andy Turnbull as I understood it, they recoloured Ultra Magnus for the same reason they gave Optimus Prime the colour scheme that he had. It’s an all american theme. So just like Optimus Prime, he was given the colours Red, White and Blue. At that time, Ultra Magnus was still supposed to become the leader of the Autobots, before that little twirp Hot Rod worked himself into the script and ended up becoming Rodimus Prime. In the early commercials you can still hear the narrator say that Ultra Magnus was the new Autobot leader.

Yeah, Optimus Prime is like the Autobots’ Captain America (Steve Rogers). All American colors, but, at the end, the most heroic leader alive (or dead).

Does anyone else think FunPub has considered those colors for Shatteredverse Ultra Magnus.
