Botcon 2009 Wrap-up!
Botcon 2009 was tons of fun!
Great to meet so many fans of Lil Formers and also make some new ones! The animated prints when over very well, especially with the kids, and I did a ton of sketches over the 3 days.
I spent much of the show hanging with my fellow Canadian in the TFcon crew. Us canucks need to stick together down here in SoCal. Also got to meet several TF artists for the first time, and many of the folk over at IDW. Stan Bush & Vince Dicola sems to really enjoy my renditions of them on the Botcon signing card, and hero of my youth Weird Al came through the artists alley during setup time. Woot!
Big thanks to Pete Sinclair from Fun Publications for hooking me up with my table, thanks man!
Now some pics!
Here’s my set up at the show, along with my table-neighbor Alex Milne and booth-girl extraordinaire Michelle. Also check out the signing card I did up for the Botcon crew to sell as an exclusive (includes all the voice and musical guests)

Steve from Australia, who got Michael Bay to sign his homemade Lil Formers shirt at the Austrlian premiere of the first TF film. Also some fans who showed up in Lil Formers shirts!

A few of the many folks who dropped by with some of SuzyWong’s plushbots! (should’ve brought my Soundwave!)

I got a set of Copic markers for my birthday last week, so I tried my hand at my first ever color sketches! They were a big hit and most everyone wants colour now. Here are a few I remembered to take pictures of:

My haul from the show: Masterpiece Grimlock, and some TMNT 25th anniversary re-release figs!

Now I need a nap before E3 next week. See you all at Botcon 2010!

Mmm… I’m seriously thinking on buying a lil’formers T-shirt online… we’ll see how my wallet survives the ROTF nightmare.

Wouldn’t happen to have any of those big TF lithos left, would you?

Man, I wish I was there, if it weren’t the fact that my brother needs to go to work.

Mm, Pictures. Thanks for them, Matt! I appreciate it! I always wanted to go to a ‘con. I like your Copic marker drawings. Damn, if I had the money, I’d ask for a commission of my robot character from you. How much would a simple colored picture of yours be anyway?
Glad to hear you had fun, and I want that Bumblebee plushie.

Wait is that a vector prime plushie?

We hung out a lot together at the Con.
Was a lot of fun, and thanks for being so friendly.

Well that answers my question ‘Did Matt ever get his birthday gift’. The Lil Formers done in colour are awesome…I’m not surprised that people are loving them! Have fun in California. Luv MOM

Those little former shirts look great. I think I will need to get one soon.
I’m still not sold on Copic Markers, but you did well with them.
