Oh also, this joke is totally stolen from the mind of IDW colourist Josh Perez. Your’e a funny guy Josh! I agree with him that Cobra might stand a chance if they would just stop wasting time trying to follow the whole snake theme.

i just started watching the first season on dvd and i i forgot jsut how cheesy the show was, i think no matter what the rise of cobra movie could not do any worse plot wise. cobra!!!!!

autobotspitfire is totally right. as much as we may “rose colored glasses” look at some of the old shows (GI Joe, Thundercats, He-Man, Transformers), go back and REALLY look at them now? They aren’t really that good. they are cheesy, ridiculous, mindless fun. You really have to turn off your brain and look at the pretty pictures. Cobra Commander was I think the worst offender…geez some of the stuff he did!

Actually, SniperMan, ‘Old Snake’ didn’t fail at all in that episode. It was the rookies who bought his services that failed.

Oh a Cobra Commander and Destro strip. GOLD! Just to point out that yes all the 80’s cartoons were cheesy. I followed the Marvel GI Joe and Transformer comics more then the cartoons. The cartoons for the most part were self contained episode to episode. But the comics were so much better. Yes, their were some bad issues, they can’t all be great after all.

Gotta love the cheesyness of the old cartoons, shame I hear the Thundercats movie is going to be CGI instead of live action.
Laser shaped like a snake, no worse than the idea of making a hybrid test-tube baby from a bunch of nut jobs in history and Sarg Slaughter to make a guy who would take over your own job (Why Cobra Commander would greenlight such an idea is beyond weird) and do it while wearing a gold snake costume.

FanofTF, Cobra Commander wants everything to look like a snake, surprised they didn’t have guns shaped like snakes. Vehicles had snake heads, bases had snake heads. Robot snakes, the works.

You know… there’s an awful lot of jokes in these weekly comic strips that I laugh at, but don’t know WHY I’m laughing. Presumably because I’m only about 17 and didn’t grow up in the 80s. Thankfully, there ARE some jokes I get, like the ones involving DC or Marvel characters, TMNT, the Megazord one, etc. And there are SOME TF ones I understood, although most of my TF knowledge of anything besides Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and Transformers Animated comes from tfwiki.net. But some jokes don’t require that kind of knowledge, and I really like that sort of thing. Keep it up, man!

Also, the reason I request a strip about Legend of Zelda is because in strip #100, when you revealed your “new direction,” Link could been seen in one of the panels, so I’m amazed you haven’t done a Legend of Zelda strip yet. And please, DON’T make it a joke about the TV series. The TV series (from what I’ve heard) SUCKED.
