Lil Formers #163: Springer
I’m pretty sure a fan suggested to me the G1 Springer/Jerry Springer connection at some point. If that was you, pat yourself on the back cause it stuck in my head. I also manage to tick off another early G1 charcter I have never drawn - Skids! He was pretty fun, I like his head design. I happen to already have a baby Rumble from an old commission heh… so reused that, hope they don’t mind!

I’m sure punch/counterpunch would have been better for this, but It got me chuckling. Ok, and Landbasered. Why do you want to see blue babies? This is a SKIDS comic, not a SIDS comic (Oh, now I see… clever :P)

@ boredombot; What’s to explain? The Jerry Springer show enticed brawls (not the Combaticon) Autobot Springer was a brawler. The Jerry Springer Show is often referred to as the underground of TV, Springer was in the Underground of the Wreckers. And,… When the audience yelled Springer, Springer, Springer, I wasn’t thinking Jerry! :p

Thanks Raymond for the explanations. Didn’t make much sense to me in the beggining either. Not sure if it makes much more sense now, but, nevermind, sounds funny anyway.

Yeah, Skids was seen in only two episode ‘Quest for Survival’ and ‘Triple Takeover’ and in each of them he had only one line.

Jarkes: If you want to know how they reproduce, watch the episode ‘The Key To Vector Sigma’. That explains it. *to explain the Dinobots, watch the one where Starscream builds the Combaticons. I’m betting the Autobots did something like that.

How transformers reproduce from what I can tell from the cartoons: you have male and female transformers, they love each other, so share their spark essence into the matrix, which then spawns a new protoform that has personality and model traits of the parents, which grows up, scans, starts out life either as a low soldier or gets a basic education.
Essentially as far as I could tell they had a group womb like the Shi-ar from Marvel Comics where the children of all couplings are born in a single nest location yet which come from which can be told, but is seldom done as they are born to aid the group. Communism to the extreme.

Baby Transformers are called Protoforms. Beast Wars and Transformers Animated focused on them somewhat. Sari in Transformers Animated was half Transformer/Half Human…..yeah….

Transformer creation has been so convaluted, we may never know the whole truth. Perhaps it would be as shocking and horrifying to us as ours was to Animated Optimus. That was funny.

How Transformers are made: They’re built. Before Beast Wars, it’s simple building. In the G1 Cartoon, it’s whatever the hell they decided would be the Macguffin this week, in the comics, it was the creation matrix, and post Beast Wars, it was Protoforms and sparks. The end. Yeesh. It’s not complicated.
What’s with the joke deconstructing? It’s supposed to be humourous.

Well Ricardo its because we’re people on the internet who are bored. Also the cartoons retconned all the time so any attempt to string them together with a single (where transformers come from) can’t work. Yes the G1 just built them, but then introduced sparks, and ignored that they were just building before then, then we got protoforms, and the idea of young transformers but protoforms could also be rush evolved into adult soldiers in emergencies (or by Decepticons).
And anything, like this comic, can make us geeks kick off and think about this stuff.

Which is actually sad that people think about robots making babies fullstop. It’s kinda sad, IMO that people can’t read what is supposed to be a humourous comic strip without needing to go into a philosophical debate about how the joke works.

Wow, why were so many people confused about which Autobot is up there, being questioned as the possible father? Seriously, it even says, “Autobot Skids”. >.> It’s not Rumble, it’s not Frenzy, it’s no one else. It’s Skids. And it’s funny. Jerry Springer, for those who don’t know, is this trashy talk show.
