MOTU Classics Evil-lyn
So, Masters of the Universe Classics is about the only toy line I collect. Recently they revealed the April 2010 figure - Evil-lyn and I thinks she looks pretty cool! Though for some reason it has started a big controversy among MOTU fans that she is a repaint of the Teela figure, with a new head & new weapons.
I can’t for he life of me figure out why people are whining so much. A couple points:
-The original Evil-lyn figure in the 80s WAS just a repaint of Teela
-The whole MOTU line is made up of reused parts, just as it was in the 80s. Most just get a new head, new weapons & new loose armor. Faker actually contains no new parts at all!
Tranfans are fairly used to repaints… maybe you guys can talk some sense into the He-fans heh.

I suppose these same people would complain about thundercracker, starscream, and skywarp all being the same with different colors? silly people.

Wow, how easy do they complain. I bought Universe Prowl, Silverstreak and Smokescreen and they are all just repaints of each other. Lol, Transfans only complain if a toy is repainted as the same character. GI Joe fans are EVEN more used to repaints and many GI Joe toys are completely made up from parts from other figures, in one instance, they made a Cobra Commander made from parts from the Indiana Jones toyline, and he was a hit with collectors,

Who cares whether it’s a repaint or not as long as the figure is awesome? (which ist true for evil-lyn)
As we know from Lil Formers #8, whinig is the right of all sentient beings, but some really overdo it. As Transfan I see it the other way round. If a mold is truly epic, I grab every repaint I can get and make some of my own.

Well said, Vibrance.

It’s not the repaint that’s the problem. It’s the mass production quality figure being sold at the specialty market quality price. You’re getting almost 90% reuse, some warping on certain figures, etc for $30 a figure. Some of the complaining is justified. Mattel knows they’ve got the He-fans over the falls in a barrel and will never come down in price. It’s just too lucrative. Use the same bucks, the same plates, created in the same mass produced factories as DCUC, Barbie, etc, and sell the figures for 100% profit. Fish in a barrel my friend, the town’s the fish, the people are the barrel… fish in a barrel!

plus the original line was mass produced and sold at $5 a pop. Even considering inflation that’s $12, not $30

Wow she looks awesome!!

@ bObb33z3r: Dunno what you mean man, these are definitely great quality figures, I’m not sure where there’s room for improvement really. And the figures are only $20, not $30. Pretty good for a line with such a small fan base.

Hi, all i agree with matt, alot of the heman toys are repaints, but you can’t complain for on the whole they are well done! And concerning Faker surely he is the worse repaint ever? Follwed by Ultra Magnus from the Aramada Range of TF

Just because we’re *used* to them doesn’t mean we have to like them… *grumbles about economies of scale, and not consumer demand, dictating toy supply*
