Megaman 10 hard? Then I’m buying.
March 22nd, 2010 at 5:38 am
sorry but keep battletoads in the past as it was a lame game.
March 22nd, 2010 at 8:02 am
The last thing I need is Battletoads getting any press… I get enough prank calls at work as it is, thank you.
March 22nd, 2010 at 9:26 am
It’s hard, yes. IF you’re playing on normal or hard mode. Easy mode is just fine.
March 22nd, 2010 at 9:29 am
Lolness.
March 22nd, 2010 at 10:56 am
I hate when games get too hard like that, it’s so annoying, even though you get like twenty lives a level you lose 12 in the process, it gets real bad.
March 22nd, 2010 at 11:27 am
ok as a GAMER
did anyone have an issue with the megaman (nes/Snes) games ??
having an easy mode is like playing God of War on COWARD
(there is no other way to call this mode BECAZ U GET THE OPTION TOSSED WHEN U DIE TO MUCH)
*matt not shouting just trying to get a point across, i Effing hate easymode*
if u need to play a mega man game on easy you might as well go back to elementry school cus you should be on the Short Yellow bus or WORKING FOR WAL-MART.
@ ARMOROCK/ savepoint savepoint savepoint =]
*ancient Chinesez proverb*
@ GRINDSPARK / what XD ! ! ! !
WHOSE responsible THIS (rofl)

I couldn’t agree more with Jaganar.
March 22nd, 2010 at 1:17 pm
@Jaganar: Well, I HAVE heard that Mega Man 10 is still really freaking hard, even on Easy mode. It’s just a little bit more manageable. Kind of like how the Mega Man Anniversary Collection versions of the first 8 games had “Easy” modes, but it only really gave you a few extra lives. They were still Nintendo Hard.
While I like myself a good challenge in a video game, the Mega Man games are the definition of Nintendo Hard. I nearly through my Wavebird at the TV when I played the GCN version of Mega Man Anniversary Collection about 5 years ago. I prefer challenges that DON’T make you want to throw your controller across the room. Another good example: Final Fantasy III for the DS.
March 22nd, 2010 at 1:20 pm
Let me rephrase that. FFIII for the DS is one of those “so frustrating you want to throw your DS across the room” games. There’s NO save points. AT ALL. And instead of improving the old job system and adding save points, what does Square Enix do? Nerf the ultimate jobs and give most bosses two turns in a row. Especially considering you have to go through the final two dungeons ALL IN ONE SITTING. Because there’s NO. SLAGGING. SAVE. POINTS.
An example of a challenge that DOESN’T make you want to throw your controller/handheld across the room: Super Mario Galaxy.
…I really hope this doesn’t make me sound like a total pansy. XD

Another good example of good but brutal game would be Kid Icarus. I heard it’s fun but it’s totally brutal. I know most crappy games are hard as well (Like Battletoads, Ghostbusters on the NES, and other games that the Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed (WARNING: his videos contain super harsh language). I do know that Pit was included in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Hopefully the new Kid Icarus game will have an easy mode that is actually easy. Anywho, back on topic… I wouldn’t risk of getting MM10, Megaman may be fun, but it’s totally brutal.
March 22nd, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Greetings,
I loved the Mega man franchise growing up, and really appreciate it getting back to its roots (The NT series etc… are just Blah…). But I find it kind of amusing that with all the super sophisticated graphics etc… of all modern games, that some gamers are complaining so much. My friends 7 year old son (who plays games almost non stop) was almost in tears because he couldn’t make any progress in MM9, but ask any old school Mega Man fan, and you’ll see that while 9 & 10 are difficult, we find them more to be sufficiently challenging, rather than the “impossibly hard” game some people make it out to be.
March 22nd, 2010 at 10:24 pm
aw…I wanna try that game…
March 23rd, 2010 at 12:22 am
SQUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEE! Battletoads!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I remember playing this game with my brother after school. I’d giggle at the big boot kicks and loved seeing those pig characters go down. This was a game which my brother and advanced so far that when we hit the final levels, we got distracted to play Toe Jam & Earl. Amusing enough that was one of the few games my Dad would play with us.
I’ve heard about Mega Man 10’s difficulty. Vaguely watched my brother struggle through it. But then he switched over to some strange game with a female half-demon who turns into a butterfly. It’s by the same creator (I think) as Devil May Cry. So visually stunning that I don’t care when the character dies frequently
March 23rd, 2010 at 1:04 am
Ha ha! I for some bizarre reason used to love that Battletoads game… oh dear.
March 23rd, 2010 at 6:46 am
the difference between megaman and battletoads, is that MM didn’t need to do a crossover with double dragon to be fun.
and I like hard games. I’ve been playing infinite space for a week now. I see the game over screen about four times a session. I still love it and its all the more satisfying when you beat that part that was kicking you’re butt.
March 23rd, 2010 at 10:03 am
No game is to hard once you’ve mastered the “Continuous cross screen dropkick technique”. I learned that from the original 4 player TMNT game. It worked on Battletoads too.
Wait. What? MM10 doesn’t have the “Continuous cross screen dropkick technique”? (haven’t playee the game yet) Ooh dear.. It’s much too hard then. LOL
March 23rd, 2010 at 12:12 pm
Man I love Battletoads (and still play it…..often). Matt is still the only guy I know who ever beat the damn thing…with a little help from the Nintendo Power walkthrough lol!
If you still have it, play it!! Even if just for all the wacky animations. I die laughing every time I fly off the screen on the Speeder level, or hump a giant snake!!
March 23rd, 2010 at 1:04 pm
True to the original Battletoad games, one of the toads is missing from this strip.
March 23rd, 2010 at 4:33 pm
At least it give off balance. The very first game was REALLY hard and the series got progressively easier until it became a total cakewalk in 7 and 8 (with the former giving a curveball in the form of a near IMPOSSIBLE final boss) while 9 was shown to be even TOUGHER than the first according to many.
Plus it gives newer fans a reason to get hooked on it. XD
March 24th, 2010 at 2:30 am
I see people calling megaman hard..I scoff at that. You noob gamers make me feel like Jetfire, and this how we brought the pain in my day! Battletoads>>>>>>> any megaman game. I’ve beaten the first battletoads half a dozen times, but it’s pretty unforgiving. It’s hard, but hard for all right reasons, not because of bad controls or poor design. Battle toads is a bonifide 10 for difficulty. There’s harder games, as making a game impossible to be is easy. But It’s not easy make a game that provides a huge challenge will still being entertaining to play. Battletoads achieves this.
Megaman games vary, but most of them I’d rate only moderate difficulty compared most the stuff of the same era. Games like Contra or Castlevania were much tougher due to their momentum design, once you started dying you kept dying because you lost all your power ups.
Megaman games not the case. You have unlimited continues/passwords and saves. Bosses have weaknesses to exploit, so they re really only hard if you don’t know the order, but that’s half the fun figuring it out yourself. Your gut reaction is usually right on some bosses, like elemental bosses are usually connected.
- Megaman 1, the toughest of the NES games, no passwords, funky falling physics , lack of E tanks or reliable items. 8/10 difficulty
- Megaman 2, the easiest of the series. Two words..Metal Blade. It was the weakness for half the bosses. (including metal man himself.) on top of being uber. Outside two bosses of the wily castle it was a breeze. 4/10 Difficulty
- Megaman 3, Some tough bosses, one of the longest games of the series. Ironically it had the easiest Wily castle of the series. 6/10
- Megaman 4, an average over all game. Nothing really hard. 5/10
- Megaman 5, The upgraded buster helped crush most enemies even if you didn’t know the correct order. 5/10
- Megaman 6, a rush job before the NES died. Most the bosses were pretty weak even without their weakness. I guess since you might had to fight them twice to get the secrets they made them weaker. 4/10
- Megaman 7, the game was average diffculty, but the clunkier controls of the 16 bit megaman hampered the game. Wily at the end of thise game is his hardest incarnation. He alone bumps the difficulty up alot. 8/10
- Megaman 8, Outside of the Jetboarding at Wily’s castle I flew thru this game. The bosses commit anime and fighting games greatest sin of announcing their attacks before they do them! Making it very easy to avoid them. 6/10
- Megaman 9, A few parts annoyed me as they got instant death happy, so theres quite a few cheap kills in this game (not megaman X 6 cheap, but bad enough.) Most the bosses aren’t too tough, especially since 9 has one of the most useful overall packages of Robot master weapons. Having a item shop also curbs alot of the difficulty. 6/10
- Megaman 10, haven’t played it yet. I’m looking forward to it as my friend insists he’s getting beat pretty bad by it. He’s played the older games so I believe him. I’m alittle better than him, but he’s no scrub.
March 24th, 2010 at 10:22 am
@Lastjustice:
I attempted to play all 8 of the original when I rented Anniversary Collection for GCN 5 years back, before the Wii came out. I found them all pretty darn vicious. Also, that Mega Ball power-up in Mega Man 8? LAME.
March 24th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
hows about a halo strip?
March 24th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
I hate to prove you wrong, matt, but mega man 9 is the hard one. mega man 10 is the attempt to ease down the difficulty.
March 24th, 2010 at 7:47 pm
@Matt
That’s not of much concern to me now. Michael Bay’s at it again with ANOTHER TF movie coming out July 1st 2011!
March 24th, 2010 at 10:46 pm
BATTLETOADS!!!, my brother and I had that game, played through al the megamans adn battletoads eluded me, my brother and I used it as more of a fighting game than to try to finish it, nailing each other wiht the toad’s special moves and the club the first golden robot that you fought was hilarious !! XD
March 25th, 2010 at 3:34 am
…okay, since no one else is going to say it…
DO YOU GUYS HAVE BATTLETOADS?!? XD
March 25th, 2010 at 11:13 am
@sonicownsmarioeverytime:
Well, I’m kind of hoping it’s not as much of a disaster as the second film… ‘Course, they’re giving Leo even MORE screen time… But hey, they’re probably gonna have Unicron. And THAT’S gonna be pretty sweet.
You know who’d make a good Unicron? Maurice LaMarche. That guy does an AWESOME Orson Welles impression, lol.

A single, oily tear slides down her cheek as Shia screams “NO NO NO NO NO!”"
March 25th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
@JaganaR:
Somehow, that would NOT be a surprise if they did that. Me, I’m kind of hoping they have Leo actually DO something USEFUL. Better still, have him take a level in bad@$$ and die in a Crowning Moment of Awesome. …Or just have him die. I don’t really care.
You know what would make it really great? If they killed Skids and Mudflap 10 minutes in. And then make it so the characters are actually GLAD.

@ joxer (JARKES)

A new TF movie… how much are you willing to bet that they’ll pull an Avatar and make it 3-D?
March 26th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
oh and to the MISSING TOAD question…
megaman ate him ^_^
after he hit on Roll (or what ever Mega’s pink buddy’s name is…NOT ZERO)
March 26th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
@jarkes,
I guess my view of difficulty is different from most of todays gamers. The Gamecube version of MMAC sucks sinces it’s controls are backwards, going against 20 years of gaming instinct. I have it on the PS2 version, as it and the Xbox version have normal control configue. That might not been entirely why you had troubles beating the games, but it definitely doesn’t help. I agree megaman 8 has several lame elements to it,(CLOWNMAN!?! really capcom) not a favorite of mine by any means. I much prefer the 8 bit first 6 to 7 and 8. The controls are much tighter and the gameplay is smoother which megaman is all about. 9 goofs me up for them removing the slide from megaman (it’s been in the game since 3, but megaman’s creator wanted make 9 a love letter to megaman 2. ) I have to remind myself it’s gone as I instinctly wanna use it. Otherwise I liked 9 well enough.

Toughest game: “To The Earth” on NES. It’s a zapper game–see if even cheating gives you a chance.
March 30th, 2010 at 6:02 am
Megaman 10 is pretty hard for a Megaman game, but Megaman 9 was wayyyy harder.
April 1st, 2010 at 12:08 am
10 is a lot harder than 9
That said, beat 10 without dying first day, so yeah, not too bad

I don’t know if anyone has heard of this, but this is the GREATEST GAME EVER!!! Its Super Mario Brothers (one), but with, get this, the option to play as Mega Man, Simon Belmont (Castlevania 2), Samus Aran, Link (LoZ 1), and a guy from Contra.

I say let the players who want a watered down mega man play on easy and have the fun game for everyone else. *waves to the easy mode players* Don’t forget your helmet and elbow pads you wouldn’t want any cuts and bruises now would you? >=D
February 18th, 2011 at 12:05 am
you all need to stop playing hard games and learn to spell. faggots.
May 19th, 2011 at 5:14 pm
Try Cave Story and then talk to me. It’s last world is the same on every mode. HARD!
October 12th, 2011 at 10:24 pm
Yes, Megaman! And effing yes! Battle Toads! I never could get passed the third level of that gam played…lol
October 12th, 2011 at 10:25 pm
Oops, messed up there. I meant it was 5 the last time I played that game, and I never passed level 3. Keyboard’s acting weird.

An impressive share, I simply given this onto a colleague who was doing somewhat similar evaluation on this. He in reality purchased me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile.
