Lil Formers #196: Power Core
UPDATE: Hi all, I’ll be at the San Diego Comic-Con all week, so no new strip this week. I will try to get something new up some time on Tuesday the 27th. See you then! Oh, also if you want to come by to see me at SDCC, I’m at the UDON booth #5037. Full details here
—————————-
Something of a follow-up to a very old Lil Formers, from over 3 years ago: Lil Formers #37: Devastator
Props to whoever can identify all four limbs’ original combiners first. Hint - none of them are Transformers.
Also lots of news this past week! If you missed it on the blog:
- Lil Formers - Pirated!
- Matt interviewed in ImagineFX magazine
- Matt featured in VENT - UDON’s 10th anniversary anthology
- Botcon 2010 report
Plus, don’t forget that I’ll be at TFcon in Toronto this coming weekend(July 17-18th) selling prints, buttons, and sketches!

Wow! My first!
Well, I recognize Voltron, Power Rangers, and GoBots Puzzler (that was my FAVORITE toy back in the day), I cant for the life of me recognize that last foot there…
July 12th, 2010 at 5:43 am
I see an arm from Voltron and a leg of Megazord and the other two, I have no clue.
July 12th, 2010 at 5:43 am
Isn’t that other leg from Mighty Orbots?
July 12th, 2010 at 6:15 am
And B. goes for the win!! I never heard of them before, but Google Images doesn’t lie! Cool!
July 12th, 2010 at 7:09 am
So it is:
Right Arm - Red voltron Lion
Right Leg - Mighty Orbots Crunch
Left Arm - Go Bots puzzler Crossword
Left Leg - Mighty Morphin Power rangers blue Zord (Triceratops)
Chest - Devestator
July 12th, 2010 at 7:34 am
wow, never heard of Mighty Orbots until now, but it looks like a copy cat of “God Mars”
July 12th, 2010 at 8:40 am
@speedjello Mighty Orbots was one of the best one-season wonders from the 80’s! They got sued by the owners of the GoBots copyright for having a similar name and a much better product.
July 12th, 2010 at 8:50 am
Its like an 80’s combiner toy orgy. Love it.
July 12th, 2010 at 9:35 am
“Form feets and legs….
Form Arms and Torso….
And I’ll form the head!”
All that’s missing is Gai King’s “Dragon” parts floating in the background.
July 12th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
His appeared in G1 as well. Ever heard of Scramble city?
July 12th, 2010 at 12:24 pm
I knew all of them but the Gobots limb. Also, that is one seriously pimped out robot.
July 12th, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Oh yeah, if this happened between Devastator, Predaking, Menasor, and Bruticus, that would be epic.
July 12th, 2010 at 4:53 pm
I loved Mighty OrBots mad props for adding them in !
July 12th, 2010 at 4:58 pm
I would rather have seen Leader1 in a Powersuit, but that’s okay. (Powersuits make EVERYBODY a combiner!)
July 12th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
yay! Combiners are back in a BIG way! Although TF:Energon got a lot of knocks back in 2004, I loved all the combiner gimmicks, now they are back.
Of course back in the day, I used to swap limbs with all the “Scramble City” Combiners anyway, looks like Hasbro finally found a way to make this practical. Also Nice with the Mighty Orbots, if any show deserves a DVD release, that one does.
July 12th, 2010 at 10:44 pm
@O.SUpreme - DVD release, hell. A reboot would be even better. Same for Bionic Six.
July 13th, 2010 at 12:39 am
Im thinking mazinger’s wing adapter somewhere in there.
July 13th, 2010 at 1:58 am
Poor Long Haul. After everything…He’s still the crotch. :p

July 13th, 2010 at 11:29 am
I think I see a Megazord arm in there
July 14th, 2010 at 12:50 am
Looks like Hook and Long Haul finally got tired of having to lug around the rest of the constructicons.
July 14th, 2010 at 9:24 am
“by your powers combined, I am” Vo-orbvastator puzzlerzord.
July 14th, 2010 at 11:47 am
Oh my XD
I remember now of a animation serie of 80’s.
Called Ulysses 31.
Where Ulysses fom Odyssey are pulled in the sci-fi scenario…
July 14th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
That’s awesome, I’d never even heard of Might Orbots until now.
YAY, TFCON FTW!
July 14th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
Wow… all I can say is that the face and chest look like Devastator and one of the limbs is like Power Ranger animal thingy! lol I need to keep studying
July 18th, 2010 at 8:29 pm
Though technically, that should be Bort as the right leg, not Crunch.
July 18th, 2010 at 8:52 pm
@strykor: YEs, though Crunch was the most recognizable Orbot, plus 2 blue legs would be bad, so used Crunch
July 19th, 2010 at 9:22 am
@Raymond T.:
Something just occurred to me… was Long Haul the one that formed the “balls” of ROTF Devestator? …No, that can’t be right. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES WITH WRECKING BALLS IN THAT SCENE. GAAAAAAAAAAH!
July 19th, 2010 at 9:25 am
Wasn’t the Left leg the Yellow Lion mega Zord? You could have used Crunch and Yellow Lion….but then the whole left side would have been yellow… Never mind.
July 19th, 2010 at 8:30 pm
OHNOEZ!!! Devastator’s gone crazy with power! I WARNED him about that…
July 20th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
@ Jarkes:
Overload would have been the crotch of Movie Devastator is we go by the toys. And no, he did not have a wrecking ball, let alone two of them.
July 22nd, 2010 at 4:46 pm
I guess this comic is a brick joke to that comic from nearly three years ago…
Wait, is this “Power Core” thing actually a new toy thing?
July 23rd, 2010 at 4:14 am
@ Jarkes:
Yes, Power Core Transformers is part of the new toy line, with combination as it’s main feature.
July 24th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
when are you making a new one?
July 26th, 2010 at 1:40 am
As soon as people stop asking him to make a new one?
July 26th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
@ Raymond:
This.
10this.
July 27th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
I got one of those new power core toys today. Got Smolder with Chopster. Chopster is a joke of a mini-con who’s only redeeming feature is having an ‘axe’ mode, but Smolder is a sweet lil’ guy! His robot form is tall and with lots of swivel joints to give him poseability and his vehicle mode is TIGHT! Really small, compact and solid, he’s not coming apart unless you want him to. Really nice guy. Can’t wait to get a bigger set and attach some drones to him.
July 28th, 2010 at 6:42 am
Matt, you still alive?
July 28th, 2010 at 9:25 pm
@optimall
Read. The. Description.
July 29th, 2010 at 3:26 am
I see a comic about religious protestors at comicon in our future.
July 29th, 2010 at 8:45 am
Hey Matt, tried to send you and email and it bounced back to me.
July 30th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Say Matt! You will be doing something special next week, right?! It being the the 4th anniversary of lilfomers.com and all…
July 31st, 2010 at 2:48 pm
@Raymond T. : really?? ITs that new?? wow good job matt!
August 1st, 2010 at 5:23 am
@ Harz Prime:
Yes, really! August 4th to be precise.
August 3rd, 2010 at 11:08 pm
power rangers on his left leg
February 27th, 2011 at 9:48 pm
ok and I though that the devastator with the right voltron arm was weird
October 12th, 2011 at 10:19 pm
Lol, that’s awesome.
